Italianissimo revisited

Acting on a tip from Italianissimo themselves (see original review: Italianissimo), I decided to go back and try it again.  I was pleasantly surprised this time!  I was made a believer!

Basándome en una sugerencia del restaurante Italianissimo mismo (vea lo que originalmente escribí: Italianissimo), decidí volver a visitarlo.  ¡Qué grata sorpresa!  ¡Ya me convencieron!

Enoteca…en Managua

I learned today, in Managua, Nicaragua, something that I never learned on the two trips I have made to Italy.  I don’t know how I could have missed this but….ENOTECA means wine shop in Italian.  In Managua, we ate at Enoteca – Vinos + Café, located two doors to the west of the north entrance of Simans in Las Galerías de Santo Domingo.  It was a pleasant surprise.  I didn’t come ready to taste wine but they offer samples, mostly Chilean, Argentinan y Spanish, from a quick glance around.  I asked about some late harvest Maipo Valley (Chile) wine…OOS but coming soon.  Anyways, back to the food.  I had a spanish ham, salami and provolone cheese panino with my Coke Zero.  Afterwards, I had that nice cup of cappuccino.  Yes, I will be back.

On a scale of 1 to 10,  I give it an 8.

Hoy aprendí algo, en Managua, Nicaragua, que por algún raro motivo nunca aprendí las dos veces que visité a Italia.  ENOTECA significa tienda de vinos en italiano.  En Managua, almorzamos en Enoteca – Vinos + Café, lugar ubicado en Las Galerías de Santo Domingo, dos tiendas al oeste de la entrada norte de Simans.  ¡Que grata sorpresa!  No vine a probar el vino pero podés degustarlo diariamente.  Pude ver una variedad de vinos, mayormente de Chile, Argentina y España.  Pregunté por un vino vendimia tardía del Valle de Maipo, Chile pero no había…pronto quizá ;)  Pues me comí un panino de jamón español, salami y queso provalone y una Coca Zero.  Después, tomé esa rica taza de un cappuccino.  Seguro vuelvo a este lugar.

Buon Apetito – Ometepe

Francisco Obando has moved to a bigger and better locale in Moyogalpa, Ometepe.  You can still get the same great pizza and other Italian fare…now in even better surrounding.

Francisco Obando se mudó a un lugar más grande y ‘más mejor’, como dicen.  Todavía en Moyogalpa, Ometepe, está el nuevo local.  Sigue sirviendo la misma buena pizza y comida italiana…ahora en mejor ambiente.

Pizzería Los Ranchitos is another option for pizza and international cuisine that you will have on the island of Ometepe, in Moyogalpa.  The pizza is good and reasonably priced.  The beer is cold…what more could you want?

We had an excellent surprise when we ate at the Pizzería Buon Appetito in Moyogalpa, Ometepe.  In my humble opinion, it’s the best pizza option on the Island of Ometepe.  Francisco Obando, owner and chef, has really learned his stuff.  He prepares the dough, sauce and ingredients fresh as you watch.  Very clean, great service and reasonable prices.  We had this 5 ingredient pizza and two drinks for a total of C$290 ($12.60).

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 8.

Tuvimos una sorpresa muy agradable cuando comimos en la Pizzería Buon Appetito en Moyogalpa, Ometepe.  En mi humilde opinión, es la mejor pizza en la Isla de Ometepe.  El dueño y chef, Francisco Obando, tiene mucho talento.  Prepara la masa, salsa e ingredientes mientras estés mirando.  Muy limpio, buen servicio y precios razonables.  Esta pizza e 5 ingredientes más dos bebidas nos costó C$290 ($12.60).

If somebody invites you to “Pizza Hut” while you are in Chinandega, don’t get your hopes up. More than a few persons have been fooled into thinking that the U.S. chain’s delicacies would be served up while in Pinolero-land, perhaps mitigating the desires of homeland goodness (to a very limited degree, albeit).

What you will really be getting is “Pizza Hot” – a local alternative that plans to take on it’s giant U.S. counterpart.
Exactly what kind of pizza is served up at “Pizza Hot”? Will this modern day David be able to slay his Goliath-like pizza counterpart? That, my friends, is all up to you. When in Chinandega, do stop by and sample the hot pizza at “Pizza Hot”.
