Corinto bridge/Puente de Corinto

Here it is! The new bridge leading to Corinto. For the moment, all traffic is directed over this bridge. However, when the bypass road through Paso Caballos is repaired, all heavy traffic will travel that path, leaving this free to car and pedestian traffic.

The fishermen in Corinto, Nicaragua often include stingrays in their daily catch. They are killed at sea and then brought to the beach where anxious filleters cut them up. Many times the flesh of these animals is cut, breaded, fried and served as “fish sticks” in the local restaurants. It has a smooth, very neutral, fishlike flavor.

Boat in Corinto/Barco en Corinto

Here’s a nice view of a large boat waiting offshore to unload or load at the Corinto, Nicaragua port. The shot is taken from an island right off the coast of Corinto named Castañones. You can get a boat ride across from the fishing docks at El Espigón.

Seafood in Corinto, Nicaragua (click to enlarge)

Here’s some local dishes, all sampled by me!!!! Yummy!!!! The first one is a fried sea bass cut of fish covered in an onion, green and red pepper and cream sauce….

The second is breaded lobster….

The third is a whole Red Snapper fried up deliciously….

Each of these dishes is served with tostones (made from green fried plantains – “poor man’s french fries” as I like to call them, rice and some rickety salad. Why eat rice when we’ve got this seafood? That’s what I’m talking about….
